Leaving Egliseneuve d Entraigues

Out on our last run in Eglinseneuve

We spent our last day at Hotel de la Providence with David working on his final project.  Alexander's wood floor in his small office area was coming apart and he asked David if he thought it could be repaired.  Ask,...and you shall receive!

We had to play bartenter a few times
Linda got to slice the onions for our last dinner
"French" Onion Soup
Beef Curry dish over mashed potatoes with red cabbage and apples
Anita let us move in to one of the suites for our last night.  She actually offered this room to us a week ago but we told her we were fine in the room we were in.  We should have taken her up on it when she offered!

Our time in Egliseneuve has come to an end.  It's amazing how quickly friendships can be built.  We've laughed and cried a few times with our hosts Anita and Alexander.  Anita has a daughter (Samantha) going to a University in the Netherlands and has been having a very difficult time.  There has been two of Samantha's classmates who have committed suicide this year and Anita has seen the emotional toll it, plus other things has put on her daughter.   So much so they made the decision for Alexander to drive to the Netherlands to be with Samantha for one week and when he returns Anita will drive there to be with her.  Anita says suicide among young adults is becoming a big problem in the Netherlands.  We've had conversations about drugs having an effect on the young people there.  Anita agrees that drugs are also a big problem.  Please keep them in your prayers.

We also learned more about Alexander's heritage.  He has a pretty amazing but sad life story.  We mentioned in a previous post that Alexander's Father was a famous Russian Balalaika player, Sania Poustylnikoff and had his own orchestra.   We learned yesterday that Alexander's Father was a Russian Jew and was in two different concentration camps during the Holocaust prior to meeting Alexander's Mother.  His life was spared because he was a musician, but his first wife and son was sent to the gas chambers.  He met Alexander's Mother and they had Alexander when Sania Poustylnikoff was 53 years old and Alexander's Mother was 20.  Sania died when Alexander was in his mid twenties.  Shortly after his father passed away, Alexander's Mother became ill.  She is still living but they have no contact with each other.

Our friends, Alexander and Anita Poustylnikoff
