We spent January 15th at sea and then arrived at the Falkland Islands on January 16th. The Falkland Islands are at 51 degrees south of the equator which is similar to Ontario, Canada in the north.
Relaxing in the library on our sea day
Entertainment on the ship. This group was called "The Alley Cats". They are a doo-wop acapella group out of Southern California and were awesome! We met the 4 of them (Mando, Mark, Greg and Jeremy) the night before they preformed when they teamed up with us during a trivia game in one of the ship's lounges. We had no idea they were performers on the ship. By the way, our team (The Jackson Alley Cats) won the trivia game that night! We have to give them most of the credit though!
Thankfully, we didn't have to miss the NFL playoffs. One of the bars on the ship played all the NFL playoff games. Sad that the Chiefs lost though!
We got some great towel animals on our bed every night!

Church in the town center. The monument on the right is made out of real whale jaw bones.

A harbor muesem in town
We took a taxi out of town to a national park to see some penguins. David a found a gun to play with
View of our ship (on the left) parked in the harbor.
2 King Penguins standing on the beach with another penguin near the water called a Megellan penguin.
We came upon this momma megellan penguin and her baby right on the path. They stayed there while we took several pictures of them.
After leaving the Falkland Island we continue south crossing the Drake Passage - The roughest waters in the world to get to Antartica!
