Our New Home Away From Home - Newcastle, New South Wales

We made it to our next destination on Sunday afternoon.  We're staying with the Barnard Family - Andrew, Ruth, Annalise and Liam.  They have been very hospitable and even invited us to go to church with them the day we arrived.  They own 6 rental homes, (4 of which they rent out by the room to local university students) so we are helping Ruth (while Andrew is working) maintain these houses.  (Mowing lawns, "wippersnipping", and repairing things.

On a "Bush Walk" going to the beach

Our new hosts
Our Room - we have the upstairs to ourselves
The kids going for a quick swim
We started working on Monday morning.  Linda cutting up some old boards laying around one of the rental houses so they will fit in their woodstove.  Linda can use powertools now!
David raking - After weed-eating (wippersnipping) a large bushy area
David had to take over on sawing the bigger boards - Ruth was right there helping us all morning
This is the house we are staying in.  It reminds us of David's grandmother's house.  This house was built in the 1920s and they are still in the process of remodeling it.

On Tuesday Ruth had some things to do so they sent us off on their bikes so we could spend the day at the beach.
We rode through an old rail tunnel on the bike trail
Some kind of lizard we saw crossing the bike trail
We rode the bikes 5 miles to the walking trail - On our way to Glenrock Lagoon

There were seashells everywhere - Linda collected a few for her Mom but only took a picture of them - Sorry Mom, can't fit them in our bags!
We can't go to a beach without taking some jumping pictures
On our walk back David came very close to stepping on this snake.  We showed the picture to our hosts and they said it was the Australian Brown Snake, the second most venomous snake in Australia - Hikes!
We thought the snake was kind of small until it started crossing the trail.

On this walk the Bell Birds were very loud.
