Last Day in the Blue Mountains - More Kangaroos

Our week in the Blue Mountains have come to an end.  We had such an amazing time!  Anna, our host was so gracious and such an amazing person.  She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and took us around to see so many places.  She not only runs a small Bed and Breakfast by herself, but she is part of a local Refugee Relief Group and while we were with her she took in a Chinese refugee lady with a 2 year old son.  She also plays chess with a 94 year old man once a week just to help him keep his mind active.   Below are some pictures of our week.

Anna dropped us off at the start of "National Pass Bush Walk"

So glad we didn't have to dress like this

Local town of Leura in the Blue Mountains

Town of Blackheath - Where we stayed for the week

This is Lin and Georgie - Chinese refugees - They speak no English so Linda helped them go by train to Sydney on Friday to the Immigration Office where they had an appointment.  Georgie really warmed up to us by the end of the week.

Saturday we hiked the Katoomba Falls and "The 3 Sisters"

The 3 points to our right are called "The 3 Sisters"

Even the dead trees are quite impressive

Our last hosts surprised us with a $100 gift certificate to eat lunch at this restaurant.

This picture is for David's Dad - He asked how we are getting around.
It's usually our feet and/or the train

After our Saturday hike and our nice lunch Anna picked up up at the train station and wanted to take us on another drive in what is called the "Megalong Valley"(because it is mega-long).  She said we can't come to the Blue Mountains without having "Devonshire Tea and Scones with jam and cream. " Oh my!!!  I think this will become another tradition in our family!

The scones were similar to American biscuits
Pinkies Up!

After tea and scones Anna took us to see some Kangaroos

This one looked a little creepy!

Zoom in to see the Kangaroos in the background
This is how to camp!

Another small evening hike in "Govett's Leap"

Eucalyptus trees shed their bark every year

We did do a little work while here - Cooking with Anna

Working on another lawn mower

This is a picture of a "Bower Bird" nest (on the ground).  Anna's B & B is named after this bird.  The male birds make the nest and then collect blue items to decorate the ground around the nest.  The female birds will come to inspect.  The more blue items, the more attracted they will be.
This is John who loaned David some tools to work on the lawn mower.

I finally recorded the Kookaburra bird singing
