Great Start in Mooloolaba

We flew up to the Sunshine Coast on Friday to start our stay with our next hosts, Len and Julia West.  We will stay in the coastal town of Mooloolaba for 12 days and have had a wonderful weekend start.  Len met us on Friday and gave us a quick tour of their beautiful home that sits right on one of the canals close to the Coral Sea.  Julia, who is an RN, had to work on Friday afternoon/evening so Len took us to a neighbor's house for dinner.  We met several of their retired friends from the neighborhood and had an awesome evening visiting with them.

Great food and conversation

Len took us to a big Saturday AM market in the town of Eumundi.
Another massive tree!

And what would a morning outing be without tea and scones with cream and jam?!
Len also took us inland to a few villages along a mountain ridge.
First stop was a village called Montville

Stopped for a coffee at "The Edge"

Razorback Rd in Montville!  Crazy Hog fans!

These plants are called "Elkhorn Ferns"  and attach themselves to trees.

Dramatic Clouds at Malaney Lookout Point

Glass House Mountains Lookout Point; these are ancient volcanos that have erroded away.

We then went down in the valley to Lake Baroon for a nice lunch at "Secrets on the Lake".  It is a Lakeside Treehouse Resort with a nice restaurant overlooking the lake.

The owner's name is George and he goes around the restaurant greeting every table and handing out roses to all the ladies.

This was a path way to George's private residence.

We returned in the afternoon and Len drove us around their neighborhood

Every weekday morning at 7 a.m. Len & Julia come to Mooloolaba Beach for coffee.  They are speaking our language!

We actually started working today, or at least David did.  Linda watched, handed him tools and cleaned up.  Their oven didn't work so David took it out and replaced it with a temporary oven they had until they can get a new one.
