Getting Things Done in Slovakia

Our time in Presov is quickly passing with our friends Michal and Blazena and their family.  Michal took off work for the week so he and David could spend time working on the house they are building.  They were able to get most of the electrical wiring done on the house as well as doing some concrete work making the landing for the stairway.

On Tuesday, Oct 13th, David got to celebrate his birthday here.  We both needed haircuts so we went to Presov center and found a nice stylist named Silva at Salon Krasy Savoy; she did a great job!
We also went to one of our new favorite coffee shops called Mily Cafe.
David's birthday. Got a bottle of champagne from the Pacinda family.

A practice jam session with Michal's Uncle Joe's band
This is a picture of Joe's band in 1974.  Joe is the base player on the far left.
Just what we have been looking for!!  The USA is missing out by not having these.
Home sweet home! Our appartment is at the top right corner just under the peach colored penthouse on the very top.
 Nice views all around

The beautiful Greek Catholic cathedral in Presov; Orthodox Church of St. Alexander Nevsky
Just can't get enough of the awesome breakfast at the Mily cafe: All this for $6.50.
Uncle Joe and his band had a family/friend get-together Sunday at a local farm restaurant.  Lots of people and live music; David got to sit in and sing 6 or 7 songs; great fun!

The place was a small farm open to the public.  It had some antique farm equipment and several different types of animals.
Gorgeous views all around!

Enjoying the sunshine with a walk around the grounds
Horses, cows, sheep, ducks (no pics) and peacocks.  Never seen white peacocks before; nice!

Something different for the USA, but not for Slovakian locals.  Looks like an apple pastry, look again, that's Sauerkraut.  This is meant to be a man's dessert.
We be jammin': sorry that Lubo (lead guitarist), we can barely see you on the left.

Hard to see, but a nice castle ruins on the hill
83 year-old friend, a folklore singer in his time.  He was the center of attention at his table telling stories, laughing, and always getting his table of men to sing lots of local songs.  He sang several songs at the mic as well and Happy Birthday to Anezka, Joe's wife.
Headed to Poland for a few days; will make a new post when we return.
