On Monday September 28 we took the train from Bourges to Paris and spent 2 days in the city before traveling to Slovakia. We've always known you normally have to pay to use the toilet in many places in Europe, but we found out in the Paris train station just how serious they are about getting their 50 cents. Linda needed to use the restroom so she paid her 50 cents and went inside while David waited outside with our luggage. While she was inside a man went past the desk without paying his money. The lady yelled at him but he just kept walking and went into the men's restroom. The lady hit a button and closed a security gate (like those on the front of stores in the mall) and called security. Linda was unable to come out for a few minutes until the security guards came and raised the gate for her. Crazy!
Our hotel was located near the Sacre` Coeur so we dropped our luggage off at our hotel and visited the church.
This couple was on the church steps when we walked by. We weren't sure if they just got married or were just taking pictures there. We loved this picture of the bride's veil; windy day.
One of our favorite places in Paris is an Artist's Square near Sacre` Coeur.
We stopped here for a quick lunch.
Our hotel balcony
Our first evening we walked from our hotel to the Louvre and then jogged through
Jardin des Tuileries. We ended up running through the garden, along the Siene River and then under the Eiffel Tower. We love Paris!
We loved this picture with the jet stream through the sky
Palais Royal
The sun started going down on our way back to the hotel and we were able to get some great evening pictures.
We spent most of Tuesday morning trying to find a way to get wifi so we could call our grandkids from the Eiffel Tower. We found a store, on-line, where we could rent a hotspot so we walked to the store. But, of course, the store had moved the week before. We were told where they moved to so we walked to that address. When we arrived they told us we needed to go to another place by subway to pick it up. We finally made it and then had to go to the Eiffel Tower to make the call. It was well worth it! We loved seeing Haylee and Garrett's face when they saw the tower.
Notre Dame
A church service was going on inside
More night pictures on the Siene river
Our journey in France has come to an end and now we are off to Slovakia to spend the month of October with our good friends Michal and Blezena; we have family all over the world.
