A Sunday Walk in the Levoca Mountains

On Sunday October 25th Michal and Jakub took us on a hike in the Levoca Mountains to look for mushrooms.  It was a perfect day for exploring up above the clouds.

Our drive up the mountain

We parked the car at an old hunting cabin in the woods.  This land was once owned by Michal's grandfather but was taken from him during the communist times.

Look up a Larch tree; amazing!

 Gorgeous views at the top

 Tea Time

After hunting mushrooms we went to the cemetary to put candles on Michal's grandparents  and his Dad's grave.  November 1st is when most of Europe remembers those who have passed, but many put flowers and candles in the cemetary all this week.

We then went to Michal's Mother's house where she made us a wonderful lunch.
This is a traditional Slovakian dish called Nalesniky.  It's made of potato and is wrapped in cabbage leaves while it is being cooked.
They called this cream type cake - Angel's Breath.  Very nice!

What a nice day!  We will be in touch.
