First Day in France

After 27 hours of travel by planes, trains and automobiles we made it to our new home in Egliseneuve d'Entraigues, France.  Your guess is as good as ours as to how it is pronouced.  We've been told 3 times, but still can't get it right.  Hopefully by the time we leave here in 3 weeks we will know how to say it correctly.  We're staying with Alexander and Anita at their small hotel called   "Hotel de la Providence."

Arriving at our new home
Subway into Paris

Train from Paris to Clermont Ferrand

Beautiful hanging plants at an intersection.  It was an hour long bus ride from Clermont Ferrand to our village.  We found we will have to learn a little bit of French to get by in this area.  No one speaks English and we had a really hard time trying to find the bus we needed to take and paying the bus tickets with the driver.  It cost "cat" Euro total.  We couldn't figure out what the driver meant, but found out it cost four Euro.  "Four" is "quatre" in French, pronounced "cat".  We were wondering what "dog" meant. :)

A "French" Longhorn! What?

Our hosts prepared us a wonderful dinner of some kind of salmon appetizer, a creamed pasta dish and a torte for dessert

Our room is on the 4th floor.  Below are pics of some of the landings of the hotel.

Evening view from our bedroom
Cows out in the field.  We could hear the cowbells in the evening.

Can't wait to see what the next 3 weeks will entail.

    1. Hey Roger! It's really great to hear from you. I hope you were able show and/or use that nice boat and matching car of yours this summer. It's great being back in Europe again, feels like home since we've spent so many years here in the past. Just posted another post on the blog an hour or so ago. Once we get more settled we should only post 2 or 3 times a week.. Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care, David
