Two Days in Budapest

We arrived in Budapest on Friday night then woke up Saturday morning and went for a 5 mile run toward the Danube River.  Gorgeous views!

This is called the "Statue of Liberty" in Budapest.

Still running, but we had to stop and take a selfie every now and then!

The main train station in Budapest was our view from our hotel room.
 Saint Stephen's Basilica

 Hungarian Parliament Building

We took a "Hop On - Hop Off" bus tour around Budapest.
The double decker bus was a little cold for David.
 Jewish Synagogue

One of the bridges crossing the Danaube River
This was one of our "Hop Off" points: Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church.

 Wedding Day for someone.

 Views from across the river

This man was selling giant prezels but after buying one we think they may have been at least a week old.

  The Jewish Synagogue at dusk

Time for dinner; we chose a traditional Hungarian Restaurant with live music
Our appetizer was goose liver served on apple slices.  Very nice!

Night time tour of Budapest...
We then took a night cruise on the Danube River; magnificent bridges lit up at night!

 Parliament Building at night

Walking back to our hotel we passed by the Budapest Opera House

 This is called "Heroes Square"

Lots of carved pumpkins for Halloween
Vajdahunyad Castle

Statue of Anonymous Varosliget (with pumpkin on Halloween of course)

The map below shows our walking, bus, and boat tour for the day; 40 miles!

We made it to Germany in the village of Calw (pronounced Calv) where we will stay for one week.  Another gorgeous area so lots more pictures coming soon.
